Enrico, a graduate in Biological Sciences from the University of Milan, has a distinguished career as a botanist. He served as a curator and director of the Natural History Museum of Milan from 1976 to 2011. Although he is retired now, he volunteers at the same museum, where he works on expanding the collections of the related herbarium (MSNM) by adding plants primarily collected from various regions such as Namibia, North Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles, India, Indochina, and Costa Rica. In addition, he has authored a significant number of scientific and popular publications that focus on plant biodiversity, and the intriguing connections that botany has with history, art, and thought in general.
